At Fluid Running, we love telling success stories to spread the word about this amazing workout and how it is changing lives. We heard about Debi Mitchell when she commented on our Fluid Running Fans Facebook page. She generously agreed to share her story, which has been edited for length and clarity. Thank you Debi! Your dedication and hard work is so inspiring!

Tell us a little about yourself

My name is Debi Mitchell and I live in St Petersburg, Florida. In February 2024, I will be 68 years old! I grew up in Florida and when I was younger, I was always in the pool. I swam on swim teams and I did synchronized swimming. I have been happily married for 40 years. I was an RN for 45 years and the last 20 years I was the Administrator of Children’s Orthopedic and Scoliosis Surgery Associates at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St Petersburg, Florida. I retired in November 2018 and we had planned to travel, but that  all stopped in March 2020 due to Covid.

By January 2021, I was at my all-time highest weight and I wasn’t really doing any kind of exercise. I was short of breath from just walking, not to mention my knees were hurting and I had developed plantar fasciitis. I had always been heavy, but now I felt like I was becoming a burden.  I went for a cardiac work-up and my doctor told me to lose weight and get active. But that is really hard when you can’t walk because of pain!

How did you hear about Fluid Running and what made you want to give it a try?

Thank God, I saw an advertisement on Facebook. I stuck with it because it has no impact on my joints.

What results have you noticed since you began Fluid Running?

In the last two years,  I have lost 70 lbs.  When I am Fluid Running three times a week,  I am losing weight!  I can do a Fluid Running workout and get 5,000 steps! Fluid Running allows me to burn calories without impact on my joints.

What other types of changes did you make to help you in your weight loss journey?

Intermittent fasting and diet. Weight loss comes down to calories in and calories out.  I also bought a Fitbit and I track my steps.

What would you say to someone else who is hesitant to try Fluid Running?

It was a game changer for me!  Just do it!

What's your favorite workout?

10 Years Running is my favorite. I love the music in that workout.

Anything else you would like to share with us?

When I put my headphones on and hear, “Hello fluid runners, this is Jennifer and I will be your coach and instructor today”  it inspires me to keep going and encourages me to do my best.
