Fluid Recovery for Deca Triathlete Graham Smedley
You may be wondering, what is a Deca Triathlon? If you thought that sounded difficult to do you’d be right. Only 5 people have completed it, and Graham Smedley is one of them. It’s an ultra endurance triathlon, which is 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, and a 26 mile run….. held once a day, every day for 10 days. When we began developing Fluid Running H2Go to help people outside of our group class area, we knew we had to get it into his hands to put it to the test. And test it he did. We asked Graham to tell us a little about his experience in a Q&A format.
FR: Tell us about your history with Fluid Running. How long have you been doing it, where do you do it and how often?
Graham: I was introduced to Jennifer through a friend who thought I might be interested in trying it to help support my ultra running. I started last year around the time that I was getting ready for a Deca Triathlon so used it initially to help with training recovery runs and as a substitute for one of my regular runs I did after a swim. After the Deca it was great to help with injury recovery as I’d damaged my Achilles during the race.
FR: What do you use it for
Graham: Injury recovery and active recovery after big events
FR: What is the most important thing people should know about Fluid Running?
Graham: It is a much harder workout than I thought it was going to be. On days where I just felt like going through the motions I’d quickly find myself pushing thanks to Jennifer’s coaching
FR: Where do you like to do your Fluid Running?
Graham: I have done my Fluid Running in a beautiful lake, so great for the sole as well as the colder water being great on sore legs.
